Maggie Leigh’s contributions to the hospital date back to 1965 – before the building even existed. She was an integral member of the original group who were determined to see a hospital built in the community. Her fundraising efforts helped open the doors to Etobicoke General and she became a founding member of its volunteer association.

In her 40+ years of volunteering at the hospital, Maggie served as president of the volunteer association and was instrumental in setting up the gift shop.

Maggie’s passion and commitment inspired generations of volunteers at Etobicoke General. According to her friends and family, she loved the hospital and practically lived in it.

When she passed away earlier this year, Maggie’s family made a $5,000 donation to Etobicoke General in her memory. Her spirit will live on in the gift shop she set up, the volunteer association she founded and the countless lives she will continue to touch thanks to the family’s generous donation.
