You may recognize her by her smile but you will recall her for her genuine kindness and wonderful disposition. She has made a name for herself…and that name is Ruth Sharpe.

Ruth’s contributions to health care in our community began with her volunteer work at Peel Memorial in 1963. Over the past 50 years, her efforts have made an immeasurable difference to Osler’s hospitals and patients.

“The hospital has been my number one priority,” says Ruth. “I’ve been lucky to meet a lot of great people and knowing that I’ve somehow been able to help them gives me a great feeling of satisfaction.”

And that feeling is mutual. Ruth has also played an incredible role for Osler Foundation, including its formation.

A past member of Osler Foundation’s Board of Directors, Ruth’s leadership, passion, intuition, honesty and sense of humour continue to inspire fundraising committees, including event planning at memorable galas like: The Crystal Ball, An Evening in Tuscany, Swinging in the Hard Times, An Evening with Sarah McLachlan, and the recent One Night. Two Legends. Three Hospitals.

“It’s important to support your community hospital,” says Ruth. “It doesn’t matter where you live, what you do or how old you are, at some point, everyone needs the care of a hospital close to home.”
