As a young girl growing up in India, Sukhdeep Kang always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Unfortunately, at that time, law enforcement was not perceived as a respectable career for a girl in India. Sukhdeep’s parents steered her towards an engineering degree instead but in 2000, when she immigrated to Ontario, Sukhdeep decided to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a police officer.
In 2003, she became a Peel Regional Police Officer and served on the force for 3 years and then as a member of the Criminal Injury Compensation Board for a year.
In 2007, fulfilling her desire to spend more time with her family and assume a career with a leadership role, Sukhdeep became a broker for Austen & Noble Insurance Brokers in Milton. In 2010, she started Armour Insurance Brokers, making her the first South Asian woman in Canada to independently launch and own an insurance brokerage. This year, Sukhdeep was awarded the LowestRates.ca Award for CEO of the Year.
Sukhdeep and her husband Surjit, who is CFO at Armour Insurance Brokers, reside in Brampton with their son.
