2024 Gala Benefit Concert Cancelled due to Labour Disruption

November 8, 2024, BRAMPTON/ETOBICOKE – In light of the current labour disruption impacting staff and services at The Rose Brampton, William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation) has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Gala Benefit Concert planned for November 16 at the Brampton theatre.

For more than a decade, the Gala Benefit Concert has been a signature fundraiser for Osler Foundation. Hosted each fall during the all-important giving season, the event raises critical funds for William Osler Health System (Osler) hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness (Peel Memorial).

Last year, $510,000 was raised at the event; the goal this year was to exceed that amount to support critical redevelopment projects at Osler—including the transformation of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second hospital and a new cardiac catheterization lab at Brampton Civic Hospital. The Gala has raised over $8.6 million since its inception.

“We rely on community support to build and equip our hospitals and the Gala Benefit Concert is critical to our fundraising efforts,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “Ongoing generous support from the community is needed to help us finish the year strong and support the current and future funding needs for equipment and redevelopment priorities across Osler, to ensure the delivery of vital care for patients and families.”

In addition to making a donation, members of the public still have the chance to bid on exciting, one-of-a-kind items in the online auction at OslerAuction.ca.

Osler Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the sponsors, committee members and guests who so faithfully, year in and year out, support Osler hospitals and the physicians, nurses, staff and volunteers who serve our community with dedication and passion.
