Sold-out tournament raises $230,550 in support of Brampton’s second hospital

June 10, 2025, BRAMPTON – It was an historic day on the links at William Osler Health System Foundation’s (Osler Foundation) 18th annual Osler Open: Brampton Invitational golf tournament. The sold-out tournament not only raised an impressive $230,550 for William Osler Health System (Osler), it also marked a century of care for the community.

The event attracted 148 golfers to The Pulpit in Caledon Village, for a memorable day in support of the transformation of Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness (Peel Memorial) into Brampton’s second hospital. In addition to playing 18 holes on the picturesque course, participants enjoyed gourmet food stations, on-course contests and trivia celebrating the 100-year history of Peel Memorial.

The region’s first hospital, the original Peel Memorial opened in 1925 with 12 beds and five staff to serve a burgeoning community of 3,000. Now, a century later, that community has grown to 1.3 million and counting. To meet the increasing demand for health care, Peel Memorial is undergoing redevelopment that will see the addition of a new patient tower, a 24/7 Emergency Department, and new and enhanced programs and services that will add vital health care capacity for generations to come.

“Many of us have our own Peel Memorial Hospital story—perhaps we had a bone mended or celebrated the birth of a child,” said Ken Mayhew, President and CEO, William Osler Health System Foundation. “Today, we stand at the threshold of a new chapter in our community’s story, and we are grateful for the golfers, sponsors, volunteers and donors who joined us at The Pulpit to cement their place in Peel Memorial Hospital’s incredible legacy of care. We are not just talking about bricks and mortar—we are building a future where every family has access to world-class care, close to home.”

“The 100th anniversary of Peel Memorial is a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come—from humble origins into a modern health care facility that continues to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our growing and diverse community,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO, William Osler Health System. “Thank you to all those who helped make the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational a success. With a transformative chapter for Peel Memorial ahead, it’s incredible what can be achieved when a community mobilizes around a shared commitment to health care close to home.”

In Ontario, communities are responsible for funding 100% of equipment costs and a portion of construction expenses for hospital redevelopment projects, such as the new Peel Memorial Hospital. Events like the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational are crucial for ensuring the new Peel Memorial is equipped to deliver exceptional care to the growing communities it serves.

“It’s an honour to be back as Presenting Sponsor of the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational as we mark Peel Memorial's centennial—a truly remarkable milestone and an historic opportunity to leave a lasting legacy of health care for the next generation,” said Paul Bhullar, President, IFS. “We are proud to support our new Brampton hospital that will take our community’s health care into the next 100 years.”

In addition to Presenting Sponsor, IFS, the Osler Open: Brampton Invitational is made possible with support from Eagle Sponsor, Orlando Corporation and Iron Sponsors BVD Group, Crawford Chondon & Partners LLP, LiUNA Local 183, and Steve Robinson and Associates of RBC Dominion Securities.
