Jim Mocon, Luisa Santos-Mocon, and Family: Honouring the Past and Transforming the Future of Health Care

For over 60 years, the Mocon family have been pillars of the local business community and champions of quality, compassionate care close to home.
Their connection the community runs deep. Jim Mocon’s father was born in Brampton in 1921, before Peel Memorial opened its doors. Years later, the farming family would deliver vegetables to that very hospital—the region’s first. And in the time since, generations of the Mocon family have been cared for at Peel Memorial—from welcoming new children, to comfort at the end-of-life.
In gratitude for the full-spectrum of care received, Jim and Luisa, along with their children, Jim Joseph, Stephen, and Jessica, have committed an extraordinary $600,000 to support Osler Foundation’s priority projects, including the redevelopment of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s new hospital. This transformational gift will help create much-needed health care capacity, including 250 inpatient beds and Brampton’s second Emergency Department.
“Osler has been a part of our family’s story for generations. We give because we are grateful—for the nurses who allowed Luisa to stay by my father’s side, for the exceptional treatment my mother received, and for the countless ways Osler has supported us. Health is everything, and we believe that everyone, in their own way, can contribute to making care better for our community. This is our way of giving back,” said Jim Mocon.
The Mocon family’s story is one of care, compassion, and commitment—a true testament to the power of philanthropy in building a healthier community.
