As a fuel provider to transport companies across Canada and the United States, BVD Petroleum may be an international company, but its heart lies in Brampton. President Bikram Dhillon has called the city home since moving to Canada more than 40 years ago.

“I love it here. This is the best country in the world to live and work,” he says. “I feel like we live in heaven.”

Throughout his time in Canada, Osler hospitals have been there for his family. “All my kids and also my grandkids—I have eight—were born in Brampton and Etobicoke hospitals, so there’s a lot of attachment to the hospital,” says Bikram.

With a generous gift of $100,000 to the Health Care Heroes campaign, BVD Petroleum is recognizing the important work of Osler staff and physicians in the fight against COVID-19.

“Especially in this time it is our duty to contribute whatever we can to help our health care heroes,” says Bikram. “They are putting their lives at risk to look after people and it becomes our dire responsibility to look after them. I encourage other people in the community to contribute whatever they can because every penny counts.”

BVD Petroleum and Bikram himself have a long history of supporting Osler, having been among those who supported the campaign to build Brampton Civic. He says now is the time for new donors to show support for community health care.

“This is the best time to step up. We’ve never had this crisis ever before—the whole world is affected,” he says. “During these difficult times, I think people realize we need each other. We should work together, shoulder to shoulder.”

Now more than ever, your hospital needs your help. Vital life-saving equipment is needed to ensure that our hospitals can keep up with demand. Double your impact and support your #HealthcareHeroes with a gift today: oslerfoundation.org/covid19.
