When I first heard about Dr. Zak Kidy, I knew his case was complex. His oncologist, Dr. Marco Iafola, had exhausted every conventional treatment. But Dr. Iafola never gave up. His commitment to his patients—and his willingness to explore every possibility—opened the door to something extraordinary.

Together, we began to look deeper. My team analyzed Dr. Kidy’s biopsy using advanced molecular testing developed right here at Osler—technology that is among the first of its kind in Canada. Through this precision testing, we can detect genetic changes that reveal which treatments are most likely to succeed for each individual patient.

For Dr. Kidy, that discovery changed everything. The testing revealed a rare molecular marker that made him a candidate for a cutting-edge immunotherapy not typically used in prostate cancer. Dr. Iafola adjusted his treatment plan and within weeks, the results were nothing short of miraculous. His cancer had all but vanished.
