William Osler Health System (Osler) is more than just a workplace for Amy Kelly and Anita Sharma. It is part of the community they call home—a place where their families have received care, where they have built their careers and where they continue to help shape the future of health care.

Both members of Osler’s Capital Development team, Amy and Anita bring different but deeply connected perspectives to their work.

Amy’s connection to Osler began long before she joined the Capital Development team. She was born at Etobicoke General Hospital, volunteered at Peel Memorial, and later began her nursing career at the very hospital where she was born. For more than 20 years, Amy worked in several nursing roles, giving her a firsthand understanding of the needs of patients, families and clinical teams. Today, she brings that experience to her role as a Planning and Programming Project Manager, helping ensure our hospital spaces are designed with care delivery in mind.

Anita’s roots are also closely tied to the community. She was raised in Etobicoke, volunteered at Etobicoke General Hospital during her teenage years and spent time there with her family while a loved one navigated health challenges. In 2016, she joined Osler’s Capital Development team and has supported a wide range of redevelopment projects from the development of Etobicoke General’s Wellness Centre to smaller but meaningful improvements to a variety of units.

Together, Amy and Anita help bring new and renewed health care spaces to life. Their work sits at the intersection of planning, construction, equipment and patient care. That connection between care and construction is what makes their roles especially meaningful. They have seen what community generosity makes possible—from a bright, welcoming new tower at Etobicoke General to updated clinical areas equipped with the furniture, technology, and tools care teams need to deliver exceptional patient care.

For both Amy and Anita, giving as staff donors is a natural extension of that work. They see how generosity comes full circle: donations become equipment, equipment supports care, and care reaches neighbours, families and colleagues across the community. Amy recalls how even small, regular gifts can add up to something significant, helping fund items like wheelchairs, vital signs monitors and the many beds and pieces of equipment one patient may need throughout their care journey. They see staff giving as a simple but powerful way to support the services everyone may one day rely on.

“We’re not just employees—we’re patients, family members, neighbours, and members of the community,” Amy and Anita said. “We see every day how donor support makes a difference, and we know that one day we or someone we love may need that same care. Giving back is one way we can help ensure our hospitals continue to grow alongside our community.”

Their pride in Osler is rooted in people. Whether walking through the hallways, helping someone find their way or seeing a new space open for patients and families, Amy and Anita are reminded that the hospital is at the heart of the community. For them, This Is My Hospital is more than a campaign—it reflects a lifelong connection to Osler as caregivers, patients, volunteers and staff. It is a place they are proud to help build and strengthen for generations who will rely on it tomorrow.
