November 21, 2022, BRAMPTON — Each year, following the excitement and spending of Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday, a global movement to make a difference through philanthropy. This year, William Osler Health System Foundation (Osler Foundation) is setting out to raise $20,000 on GivingTuesday to fund the purchase of 40 new wheelchairs for William Osler Health System (Osler).

Wheelchairs are one of the most used pieces of equipment in a hospital. Their frequent use means they need to be replaced or repaired on a regular basis and as the number of patients who seek care at Osler continues to grow, so does the demand for new wheelchairs. The cost of each new wheelchair is $500, which must be funded by the community.

To encourage the community to give generously, John Esplen and The Humberview Group is matching all donations to Osler Foundation—up to $1 million—until December 31.

In Ontario, 100% of equipment in a hospital must be funded by the community, along with a portion of construction costs. To double your gift and receive a 2022 tax receipt, make a donation by December 31 at www.oslerfoundation.org.
